Dionysos stood out as one of the brilliant highlights of the 2010 Salzburg Festival. The composer Wolfgang Rihm himself compiled the libretto for this remarkable opera fantasy, in which every word comes from Nietzsche's Dionysos Dithyrambs. The story follows the figure of N. (Johannes Martin Kränzle), a blend and interactionof Dionysos, Marsyas and Nietzsche, an eternal wanderer in search of love, fulfilment and truth. Ingo Metzmacher and Pierre Audi have shaped a breathtaking work of art, an brilliant opera fantasy made all the more impressive by Jonathan Meese's stage sets. In her documentary film "I am Thy Labyrinth" Bettina Ehrhardt leads us alongs the exciting path from score to premiere, also linking to Nietzsche's ideas and inspiration, including interviews with Wolfgang Rihm, as well as with the singers, Pierre Audi, Ingo Metzmacher and Jonathan Meese.
