"Iron Maiden - The Number Of The Beast"
1982 was a momentous year for Iron Maiden. Following the addition of brilliant new vocalist Bruce Dickinson, their third album "The Number Of The Beast" was released to universal acclaim form both critics and rock fans. The album topped the UK charts for 2 weeks, launched them into the US Top 40 for the first time, and invaded the Top 10 album charts worldwide achieving a plethora of gold and platinum awards. "The Number Of The Beast", is regarded as one of the greatest and most influential heavy metal albums of all time, including, along with demonic title track, such classic metal anthems as "Run To The Hills", "Hallowed By Thy Name", "The Prisoner" and "Children of The Damned".
This exclusive film tells the full and vibrant story behind the making of the album. It is packed with exclusive interviews with the entire band - Bruce Dickinson, Steve Harris, Adrian Smith, Dave Murray - with the first interview for many years with drummer clive Burr who left the band after the massive "Best On The Road World Tour". Producer Martin Birch takes us through the original multi-track tapes and long time manager Rod Smallwood adds his own anecdotes from that period. Current drummer Nicko McBrain, who at that time played with the support band, adds his tales from the road and guitarist Adrian Smith contributes exclusive acoustic guitar renditions of "Children Of The Damned" and "The Number Of The Beast".
Featuring masses of previously unseen footage from the 1982 Hammersmith Odeon Show in Best On The Road Plus an exciting preview of the forthcoming state of the art DVd shot at Rock in Rio in January 2001, this programme provides a unique insight into how The Number Of The Beast propelled Iron Maiden into international superstar status and came to be a Classic Album.
"Judas Priest - British Steel"
Had Judas Priest released just this one album, it would still go down in history Full-blown metallic sound, awesome solos, great lyrics, and god-like vocals: this album has it all. Released in 1980, British Steel opened the era of British Metal as we know it (and American metal consequently).
Judas Priest was one of the most influential heavy metal bands of the 70's. Hammering out of Birmingham, the core band comprised Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, K.K. Downing and Ian Hill. Decked out in leather and chains, the band fused screaming vocals with fast riffs, as well as adding a vicious twin lead guitar attack; in so doing, they set the pace for much popular heavy metal from 1975 until 1985, as well as laying the groupwork for the speed and death metal of the 80's.
British Steel made them a world-famous band. It climbed high in the UK charts, and three tracks were made into singles, all of which became promotional videos. "Breaking The Law", "Living After Midnight" and "United" received wide radio play, which continues to this day. Priest's performance at the first ever Donington "Monsters of Rock" Festival cemented their position as the Metal Gods.
The welding of British Steel is told in this exclusive programme in the band's own words, and by their once long-term producer Tom Allom. Featuring archive footage, interviews and rare live performances, plus all of British Steel's finest songs, including "Living After Midnight", "Breaking The Law", "Metal Gods", "The Rage", "United" and "Grinder", this is a compelling, witty and exhilarating look at the making of one of heavy metal's most artful creations, a true Classic Album.
