Alejandro Jodorowskys Fando and Lis (1968, 96 min., Black & White) is a modern fable about two young people searching through a destroyed world for a mythic city called Tar, where all their wishes will be granted. Instead, they are corrupted and driven mad. Considered lost for nearly 30 years, Fando and Lis had its world premiere at the 1968 Acapulco Film Festival. What should have marked the arrival of a new master of the surreal instead degenerated into a full scale riot on the festival floor. The director barely escaped with his life and the festival was closed. Fantoma is proud to present the directors cut of this visionary first film from the creator of such cult classics as El Topo, The Holy Mountain and Santa Sangre. Also includes Constellation Jodorowsky (1995, 83 min.), a documentary on the life and art of Alejandro Jodorowsky, featuring interviews with Peter Garbriel, Marcel Marceau, artist Jean Moebius Giraud and playwright Fernando Arrabal.
