Description:
In D2, you play the role of Laura Parton, a well-respected journalist who’s on her way home for the holidays. In a double stroke of bad luck, the plane you’re on is simultaneously hijacked and knocked out of the sky by a meteorite. But something else goes terribly wrong with the other survivors of the crash: they’re turning into plant-like zombies, and the only way to identify one is by the color of its blood. Your mission is simple: explore the frozen wasteland of the crash site, eliminate the zombies, and figure out exactly what happened. D2 ist das bisher beste Dreamcast-Spiel, dass mir über den Weg gelaufen ist. Ihr steuert die Hauptdarstellerin frei in einer 3rd-Person-Perspektive über mit Schnee bedeckten Bergen. Dabei bringt es oftmals viel, die gesamte Gegend inkl. den Ecken zu erkunden, da dort oft Munition liegen könnte. Aber ihr braucht ja nicht nur Pratonen, sondern auch Leben. Diese bekommt ihr durch MediPacks bzw. durch das Jagen von Hasen usw. Wenn ihr also ein Tier erspäht, holt eurer Scharfschützengewehr raus und versucht mit einem gut gezielten Schuss das Wild zu treffen. Kommt es aber zu einem größeren Gefecht mit einem der vielen mutierten Gestalten, so schaltet sich das Geschehen in eine Ego-Perspektive um (wie man es von Ego-Shootern kennt) und ihr dürft draufballern, was das Zeug hält. Dadurch gestalten sich die Kämpfe viel dynamischer und nicht so träge wie etwa in Resident Evil. Auch die Story ist sehr tiefgründig und jenseits von trashigen Billig-Geschichten.
Im Laufe der Handlung gibt es sehr viele coole Szenen, die meiner Ansicht nach zu den besten der Videospiel-Geschichten gehören und alleine wenn man sich den letzten Endboss und das darauf kommende Ende anschaut, dann weiß man: Man spielt etwas außergewöhnliches!
