verview Live In Amsterdam is a double CD ROM, the first CD of which plays as a short audio CD containing five excellent live tracks. As a CD ROM it contains video footage (taken from the video Bitchcraft), some of which is explicitly sexual (e.g. fisting), still pictures and comprehensive biography all contained in a simple and decorative CD ROM implementation. The total energy expressed though this has to be experienced to believed. High points Musically the five tracks are well recorded and performed, each of them outstanding in their own particular way (though most people would probably plump for Fistfuck as the track of the album). The video is also good if you dont already have Bitchcraft (the video), but the most outstanding feature for me is the text-based biography of the group.

Low points Ill have to get picky again to find any low points. Maybe the lack of pictures, particularly some of the great live shots Ive seen on the net, would be one disappointment. Apart from that its difficult to complain about the contents of CD ROM with such a low price (10-14 UK pounds). Availability. You can no longer get this directly from Rockbitch but some legitimate suppliers still have stock, Shop around, its worth looking for! Production The audio tracks are sparkling and full of live energy and the audio quality is very good, much better than that on the video clips (which have a general bootleg feel to them). The video itself has a fairly good live feel to it also and picks up those scenes that we all want to view at the right moments. The CD ROM implementation is simple and well designed, following my own preference for computer presented materials. However the graphics can be a bit grainy in places making text and symbols sometime difficult to read (at least on all the computers Ive tried it on so far). The CD sleeve provides installation instructions as well as complete lyrics to the five audio tracks ass well a several interesting pictures of the band. Installation itself has been painless for me on Win95 systems and also for a friend of mine using a Mac. When you run the CD-ROM you are presented with a couple of opening screens which follow on to a main menu. The whole concept is that of an archaic manuscript or grimour, where each menu option opens like the pages of a book. On the main menu one page has a list of items on the first CD while the other had a link to the Archives Extrema which takes up the whole of the second CD. The menu items are reviewed individually in order below. Biography This is one of my favourite parts of the whole CD-ROM. Here we are given extensive biographical details on Rockbitch and each of the individual band members. The text is presented in a box on the left-hand side as a continuous file with links to scroll up and down. The graphic links on the left scroll the text to each of the individual band members biographies. Theres lots of really interesting stuff in there. To give you a bit of a flavour here is Luci on being submissive: No-one can see how vulnerability can be strength. Sexual masochism is always confused with emotional and political weakness. I wish that people would fucking wake up and smell the coffee! It goes back to this lion is the king of the jungle shit. The bacteria is the king of the jungle, but men find it difficult to relate to a microscopic heroine Picture Book This is a selection of three pictures for each band member all thumbnailed (there are no group shots) mostly in publicity shot style. There is nothing really spectacular here and no hard core shots at all. A link lets you save and individual pictures as wallpaper (the ones of Luci work best IMHO). Video Clips Five clips taken from Bitchcraft which are mostly the cut-outs from the live gig that forms the backbone of the video. The index is via a pentagram (one clip for each point, fire, water, air, earth, and spirit). The only video controls are start, stop and volume which means you have to play the clips in an external player if you want to fast forward or rewind to a particular point. All of the clips are a few minutes long and feature an introduction to the band and its members, some discussion (the best is Julie talking about ritual during their gigs) and live tracks (Kill, Piss Dripping Fur Burger, SNAFU). The final clip is from the gig in Germany where the riot police turned out to stop them (also seen on the Bitch Oclock News video). Clips are in MOV format and are 240 by 180 pixels. Audio Tracks. Again a pentagram provides links to each of the five audio tracks. Also with play, stop and volume controls only. A panel on the right shows the lyrics of each track as it plays (but you have to scroll manually). The tracks are: 1. Whore of Satan One of my favourite Rockbitch tracks, great to dance to and oozing sexuality. Very industrial, its about women being sexual and therefore what Christians describe as the devil. Luci does wonderful dancing to this. 2. S.N.A.F.U. Slightly less refined than the Motor Driven Bimbo version but infused with a great live energy. 3. Maiden Whore Acappella track about the triple goddess. Very catchy. 4. Diva Rock version of Diva as on Motor Driven Bimbo. Again very catchy. 5. Fistfuck This is the song that Babe general gets fisted to on stage. Its a thumping rockindustrial number that you just have to sing along to. Play it on your ghetto blaster, headbang and frighten the local puritans. Mechanising A scrollable list of t-shirts, posters, baseball caps etc. to buy directly from the bands agents. Credits Brief credits of the production and the band. These are not nearly as detailed as the notes on Motor Driven Bimbo. Archives Extrema This plays back (with the same controls) a single video clip 32 minutes long of live footage as featured on the video Bitchcraft. I havent worked out if the video clips on the CD contain everything that appears on Bitchcraft but from the relative lengths I would guess that they mostly do, except Bitter Rose seem to be missing. Youll almost certainly want to view this using an external player to get full screen video and to win tough the clip. The clip can be found at MEDIAMOVIESClip6 on the second CD. Note there is no extension so for many players youll have to type the file name in rather than picking it from a browse menu. The contents are the same as he rest of Bitchcraft and include songs (Cindy, Fistfuck, Kalima, and Whore of Satan) and fist fucking, whipping, dildo play, the golden condom etc. - all good stuff!
